Avatara Stands as Only IT Platform that Deterministically Ensures Customer Compliance with New Defense Department Requirements
ST. LOUIS (November 12, 2025) – Avatara, whose Avatara Platform provides companies with complete information technology (IT) infrastructure as a service, has partnered with managed security service provider (MSSP) Trustwave, A LevelBlue Company and global cybersecurity leader, to ensure that Avatara’s customers in the defense industry will conform to new Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) requirements, which began phasing in starting November 10, 2025.
The Department of Defense (DoD) just published its stringent CMMC cybersecurity requirements. This means that about 80,000 defense contractors, plus many of their subcontractors, will ultimately need to be assessed and officially vetted for compliance by authorized third parties. So far only about 200 companies have been assessed, according to industry experts.
Technology and expertise from Trustwave, one of the only cybersecurity providers that is Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) certified, have been integrated into the Avatara Platform. That platform serves as a companies’ comprehensive IT environment, significantly minimizing and often eliminating the organizations’ IT burdens. Avatara onboards a company’s’ data, applications, business workflows, and users in under 60 days. Additionally, the Avatara Platform seamlessly evolves and updates with companies’ needs ensuring a high security posture and alignment with compliance requirements.
“It’s fair to say that a CMMC crisis is percolating at many companies. Some are probably panicking; the requirements are so extensive and complex, and the need for third-party certification adds another level of pressure and stress. Many companies are trying to pull together compliance piecemeal, turning to internal resources and consultants, and buying layers of solutions from a fragmented supply chain. The outcomes, and costs, for those firms are highly uncertain, and perhaps never ending,” said Robert McCormick, founder and CEO of Avatara.
Said Bill Rucker, Senior Vice President, Public Sector at Trustwave: “More and more companies are recognizing that the Avatara Platform is the singular end-to-end solution for organizations that need a sophisticated IT environment and infrastructure that is compliance-oriented by design, and will stay in compliance, with CMMC and other cybersecurity requirements. We are delighted that Trustwave’s solution is now an integral part of the Avatara Platform.”
“It’s concerning that many companies are turning to their managed service providers who only have pieces of what CMMC calls for and will be reaching for ad hoc solutions that could require tremendous amounts of time and money and not get the job done. If that happens, they’ll need to start over. That’s why we’re excited that the CMMC process, thanks to partners like Trustwave, is straightforward, headache-free and set-priced for Avatara Platform customers in the Defense Industrial Base [DIB],” McCormick said.
To complete the picture, Avatara has also partnered with Gray Analytics, a Certified Third-Party Assessor Organization (C3PAO), to assist DIB companies adopting the Avatara Platform with residual documentation, administration, and readiness responsibilities in preparation for certification, McCormick added.
